I got a juicy tidbit from one of the really nice deputies (who were great throughout the whole trial)…

The juror who was called  into the judge’s chambers today had an issue with claustrophobia!

So hey, at least one mystery is solved.

Covering this trial was my choice and I asked to be able to do so. I’ve been writing the online version of this story since it happened and have read and reread every single piece of discovery evidence.

I have enjoyed being able to blog about the trial and share my knowledge of the case.

Whether or not I cover the next trial, that’s up to my boss Matt.

You know how fast I was trying to type at that moment? I was not only typing in the blog, I was typing a message to the crews down at the live shot as well as a message to my counterpart at the station.

If that was the only misspelling, Hooray.

The judge just declared a mistrial and now the state and defense have to start all over again.

Looks like their will be a case management next week. Which means they’ll start the process of a new trial next week.

The judge read what sounded like a prepared “jury instruction” that basically said they had to go back to the jury room and continue to deliberate. They have to allow each juror to speak and have their say and then they have to try to come to an agreement.

If they still can’t come to an agreement, the judge will declare a mistrial.

The Cooper family has been in court all day every day. The Andrews and Kokoras have been elsewhere waiting. Now the entire Andrews family is here, including one young man who looks eerily similar to Steven.
